1. Tajiri (w/ Torrie Wilson) pins Billy Kidman after spraying red mist in his face at 9:08 to win the WWF Cruiserweight Championship.

The Buildup/Title Change/Heel Turn: On the 4/4 Smackdown (taped 4/2), Kidman defeated Tajiri to win the Cruiserweight Title after Wilson prevented Tajiri from using the title and he would berate her after the match, and on the 4/11 Smackdown Tajiri officially turned heel by forcing Wilson to begin wearing a traditional Japanese kimono and he would defeat the Hurricane as he continued to berate Wilson until Kidman made the save. On the 4/15 Smackdown, it was announced Tajiri would get his rematch here as he and Chavo Guerrero defeated Kidman and the Hurricane in a tag match when he pinned Hurricane.

Analysis: We kick off this PPV with our first title match of the night. Kidman won the Cruiserweight Title from Tajiri a few weeks ago and now Tajiri comes here looking to become champion again. Kidman gets a good pop from the crowd while Tajiri was pretty hot as a heel. The two men lock up to start with neither gaining an edge and they lock up again with neither gaining an edge as they exchange shoves, and Kidman hits a clothesline on Tajiri and stomps on him repeatedly as Tajiri blocks a hiptoss attempt and Kidman gets a knee in. He flips over Tajiri and ducks a spin kick as Tajiri ducks a shot and hits an armdrag on Kidman who hits one of his own, and Tajiri sends Kidman into the buckle and pounds on him in the corner as Kidman turns it around and pounds on Tajiri. Tajiri reverses a whip into the other corner and Kidman catches him with a boot to the face as he leaps onto Tajiri’s shoulders, but Tajiri blocks a hurricanrana attempt and slingshots Kidman into the corner with Kidman landing on the middle rope. He hits a missile dropkick on Tajiri for a two count and pounds on him as Tajiri reverses a whip into the corner, and Kidman hits a headscissors on Tajiri who rolls outside to regroup and he trips Kidman up as he hoists him up in a wheelbarrow and hotshots him on the barricade. He throws Kidman back into the ring and hits a slam as he drops a knee on him and chokes him on the bottom rope, and he slides out of the ring and kicks Kidman in the head before rolling back into the ring and he hits a snapmare as he hooks a submission on. Kidman fights to his feet and breaks the hold as he ducks a shot and hits a hurricanrana on Tajiri who catches him in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and he rams Kidman into the buckle and puts him in the tree of woe as he hits a baseball slide on Kidman and rolls outside. He pulls Kidman’s back into the post and rolls back into the ring as he stomps on Kidman and hits a backbreaker, and he hooks another submission on Kidman who escapes with a knee for a two count and Tajiri hits an axehandle. He drops an elbow on Kidman and stomps on him as Kidman tries to battle back and he whips Tajiri into the corner, and Tajiri avoids a charge and looks for the Tarantula though Kidman escapes it as Tajiri lands on the apron. He kicks at Kidman and slingshots onto his back as he hooks the Tarantula on Kidman who avoids the kick and they trade blows, and Tajiri looks for the handspring elbow only for Kidman to hit a dropkick to the back for a two count and Tajiri escapes a back suplex attempt. He hits a spin kick to the back of Kidman’s head and Kidman escapes a suplex attempt as he goes behind Tajiri, but Tajiri turns it around and hits a German suplex for a two count as Kidman reverses a whip into the corner and Tajiri ducks a shot. He hits a superkick on Kidman for a two count and Kidman escapes a powerbomb attempt by slamming Tajiri’s head into the mat, and he goes up top only to miss the Shooting Star Press and Tajiri kicks him in the head for a two count. He kicks at Kidman and rams him into the buckle as he puts him on the top rope and pounds on him before going up himself, and Kidman gets a shot in and hits a sitdown spinebuster off the top for a two count as Tajiri counters a whip and Kidman gets a kick in. He hoists Tajiri up for a powerbomb only for Tajiri to spray red mist in his face and he falls on top which gets the three and we have a new champion. The match itself was good as both men worked hard and put on a solid title match. Both men were hitting their groove by this point and still had good chemistry as Tajiri uses the mist to get the title back. The crowd was into the match and Kidman, but are not happy when Tajiri wins. Tajiri gets the win over Kidman and regains the Cruiserweight Title as both men move on. Grade: 3

After the match, Michael Cole tries to interview Tajiri who yells at him in Japanese before forcing Wilson to the back.

We see Bradshaw warming up backstage as Faarooq comes up to him and they embrace as they compliment each other on how their doing on their shows, and Faarooq says that he will make sure what happened to him on RAW won’t happen again.

2. Scott Hall (w/ X-Pac) pins Bradshaw (w/ Faarooq) with a rollup at 5:47.

Temp. Farewell: Aside from an appearance at Insurrextion, this is Bradshaw’s last PPV until 2003

Farewell: Aside from sporadic appearances, this is Scott Hall’s final WWF PPV as he would be fired in May due to his actions in the infamous “Plane Ride from Hell” as well as his ongoing personal problems, and he would work the indie scene for the next decade and made numerous appearances with TNA as he would win the tag titles once as he struggled to get clean. After more incidents including at an indie show where he was in a very bad state, he would hook up with Diamond Dallas Page who took him in and helped him get clean along with Jake Roberts. He would kick his addictions and would make numerous appearances with WWE while making a few more indie appearances alongside his son Cody, and Scott Hall would sadly pass away from a series of heart attacks on March 14th, 2022 at the age of 63. Scott Hall was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 as Razor Ramon by Kevin Nash, and he would be inducted again in 2020/1 as part of the New World Order.

The Buildup: On the 3/21 Smackdown, Kevin Nash lost a match to the Rock by DQ when Hall got involved and they would take Rock out until Hulk Hogan made the save, but then X-Pac would come out and attack Hogan as he was revealed as the newest member of the nWo. On the 3/25 RAW, the nWo defeated Hogan and Rock by DQ when Kane got involved to help Hogan and Rock, and on the 3/28 Smackdown Kane, Rock, and Hogan defeated the nWo in a 6-man tag match. On the 4/1 RAW, the nWo took over the abandoned APA office much to Bradshaw’s chagrin though they would beat him down, and later that night Kane defeated X-Pac by DQ when the Outsiders got involved and Bradshaw would make the save. On the 4/8 RAW, X-Pac defeated Kane in a falls count anywhere match thanks to the nWo and X-Pac would take Kane’s mask until Bradshaw again made the save, and later that night Flair would suspend Kevin Nash indefinitely without pay as Nash threatened to sue him. On the 4/15 RAW, the nWo tried to attack Austin only for Bradshaw to make the save as this match was made and later in the night, Austin and Bradshaw defeated the nWo and the Undertaker in a handicap match when Bradshaw pinned X-Pac.

Analysis: Our next match on the card is a pretty interesting matchup. Bradshaw has been having issues with the nWo for the last few weeks and he comes here to face Hall, who was cruising in the midcard and looks to get a win here. Bradshaw gets a good pop from the crowd as he brings Faarooq out to be in his corner while Hall was pretty hot as a heel. He chokes Bradshaw on the ropes and X-Pac gets a shot in from the floor as Hall pounds on Bradshaw who battles back, but Hall gets a kick in and pounds on Bradshaw as he whips him into the corner and splashes him before slapping the back of his head repeatedly. He stomps on Bradshaw in the corner and Bradshaw gets a kick in as he tries to battle back only for Hall to get a stomp in, and he continues to stomp on Bradshaw in the corner until Bradshaw hits a tackle and he fires up on Hall. He hits a back elbow and a big boot on Hall as he whips him into the corner and splashes him until Hall reverses a whip into the other corner, but he misses a charge and Bradshaw hits the Clothesline from Hell on Hall for a two count as X-Pac puts Hall’s foot on the rope. He slaps Bradshaw from the floor and Faarooq chases him around the ring as X-Pac gets on the apron and Bradshaw knocks him into Faarooq’s arm, and Faarooq rams X-Pac into the post as Hall hits a low blow on Bradshaw and hooks a rollup which gets the three and he wins the match. The match itself was decent as Bradshaw pretty much dominated it until Hall steals it in the end. The crowd was into the match and Bradshaw, but are not happy when Hall wins. Hall steals the win over Bradshaw though this issue isn’t over yet. Grade: 1.5

We see a shot outside the Kemper Arena.

We see Vince McMahon go into Ric Flair’s office and he confronts Flair as he brags about the nWo winning and he thinks he’s starting to like his style, and he says that as an owner Flair knows what it’s like as it is never enough for his employees. He says that they question everything Flair does including his integrity and they are distrustful of Flair as he says Flair is feeling the heat, and he says that Flair is now between a rock and hard place by naming himself the referee for the Austin/Taker match. He says that Flair is either a fool or brilliant and he’s starting to relate to him as Flair says Vince has no clue who he is and never will, and he says that he’ll never be like Vince McMahon and Vince says that he could try as he leaves.

Trish Stratus comes down to the ring for her match only for Molly Holly to come down to the ring and she says that the Women’s Champion shouldn’t be a cheater or to flaunt her body around, and she says that everyone wants the champion to be pure and wholesome like her as Stratus is a cheater. She hits her with the mike and throws her to the outside as Stratus tries to battle back only for Holly to reverse a whip and she sends Stratus into the steps before heading to the back.

3. Jazz forces Trish Stratus to tap out at 4:26 to retain the WWF Women’s Championship.

The Buildup: On the 3/18 RAW, Jazz and Ivory attacked Stratus and Lita after their match and on the 3/21 Smackdown, Stratus and Lita defeated Jazz and Ivory in a tag match when Stratus pinned Jazz. On the 4/15 RAW, Stratus and Holly had a confrontation backstage and Stratus would defeat Holly to earn a title shot at the PPV.

Analysis: Our next match on the card is our second title match of the night. Jazz has been rolling as Women’s Champion and faces a tough challenge here in Stratus, who was looking to get another chance to get revenge on Jazz and become champion again. Stratus gets a good pop from the crowd though is now at a disadvantage thanks to Holly while Jazz had solid heat as a heel. Jazz throws Stratus into the ring to start the match and clotheslines her in the back of the head as she whips her into the corner, and she hits a sidewalk slam on Stratus for a two count and kicks at her until Stratus hotshots her on the top rope. She pounds on Jazz who ducks a shot and she hoists Stratus onto her shoulders as she hits a rolling senton, and Stratus rolls under her and hits a clothesline as Jazz rakes the eyes and pounds on Stratus who battles back. Jazz ducks a kick only for Stratus to hit the kick for a two count and she pounds on Jazz as she stomps on her repeatedly in the corner, and she puts Jazz on the top rope and goes up herself as Jazz pounds on her and shoves her to the mat only for Stratus to hit the handstand hurricanrana. She hits a pair of clotheslines and a neckbreaker on Jazz for a two count as Jazz catches her ducking with a kick, and she hits a sitdown powerbomb on Stratus for a two count and chokes her on the ropes as she chokes her with her boot. She whips Stratus into the corner only to miss a charge and Stratus hooks a rollup for a two count only for Jazz to rake the eyes, and Stratus counters a whip and gets a kick in as Jazz counters the Stratusfaction with a back suplex for a two count. She whips Stratus into the corner and catches a kick attempt as she snaps Stratus to the mat and hooks a Boston crab on, and she transitions into an STF on Stratus who taps out and Jazz retains the title. The match itself was decent as both women worked hard and put on a decent title match. Stratus was slowly getting into a groove while Jazz was also hitting her groove as well, but this was more about Holly attacking Stratus before the match and Jazz taking advantage to win. The crowd was into the match and Stratus, but are not happy when Jazz wins. Jazz retains the title over Stratus and both women move on. Grade: 1.5

After the match, Marc Lloyd attempts to interview Jazz who simply walks away.

Analysis: Our next match on the card sees a huge debut. Lesnar has been making waves since debuting a month ago and he looks to win his first official match here, and he was set to face Matt though now faces Jeff due to what he did to Matt the previous week. Chris Jericho comes down to the ring and says that he wants to get something straight in that 30 days ago, he was in the main event of WM as the Undisputed Champion and he was the top guy in the business, and he says now he stands in this ring without a match tonight and he is here as a common spectator. He says that is unacceptable as Billy Kidman and Trish Stratus had matches and Maven also has a match tonight, and he asks if he’s not good enough to be on the show which insults him and hurts his feelings though he feels good knowing that he’s still better than everyone here. He says that he is still better than the has-been Hulk Hogan and he asks if anyone really believes that Hogan deserves a title shot more than him, and he says that those that believe that Hogan will be champion again will be disappointed and Hogan will never again be champion because Hogan is not worthy of being champion while he is and he is worthy of having a match though he will just leave now which he does.

We see Ric Flair and Arn Anderson in Flair’s office as the Undertaker comes in and has a staredown with Flair before walking out.

The match itself was good as both men worked hard and put on a solid match that was maybe a bit too long. Austin was starting to slow down at this point while Taker was hitting his stride and they still had good chemistry, but it drag on a bit too long and the main story was Flair missing Austin’s foot on the rope. The crowd was into the match and Austin, but are not happy when Taker wins. Taker gets the win over Austin and is the Number One Contender as both men move on. Grade: 3

Analysis: After a fairly long and interesting night of wrestling, we come to our main event. Triple H won the Undisputed Title the previous month and looks to have a successful defense here against Hogan, who was once again a face and now he looks to become champion one more time. Both men get a big pop from the crowd as they seem to side more with Hogan over Triple H. The two men have a staredown to start the match and they lock up with Triple H shoving Hogan into the corner, and they lock up again with Triple H again shoving Hogan into the corner as they lock up a third time with Hogan shoving Triple H into the corner. They engage in a test of strength with Triple H bringing Hogan to his knees as Hogan fights to his feet only for Triple H to get a back elbow in, and he works the arm and they transition into another test of strength as Hogan fights out of it and hooks a headlock. He knocks Triple H down and they lock up again with Triple H backing Hogan into the corner and he slaps him in the face, and Triple H gets a kick in and pounds on Hogan as he stomps on him and rams him into the buckle before continuing to pound on him in the corner. He chokes Hogan in the corner and pounds on him as Hogan reverses a whip into the other corner and hits a backdrop, and he hits a pair of clotheslines on Triple H and pounds on him in the corner as he chokes him and continues to pound on him. He whips him into the other corner and splashes him as he continues to pound on him and he whips Triple H back into the other corner before splashing him, and he hits a Diamond Cutter on Triple H for a two count and pounds on him as Triple H escapes a slam attempt and he hits a pair of chop blocks. He goes outside and rams Hogan’s knee into the apron as he drags him to the corner and he rams his knee into the post, and he pounds on Hogan and rams his knee into the post again as he rolls back into the ring and hits another chop block on Hogan. He drops an elbow on Hogan’s knee and pounds on him on the mat as he drops another pair of elbows on the knee and he hooks a submission on, and he looks for the Figure-4 only for Hogan to kick him off and Triple H hits another chop block on the knee. He drops the elbow on the knee repeatedly and hooks another submission on before looking for the Figure-4 again, but Hogan kicks him off into the corner though Triple H pounds on him on the mat and he chokes him as he finally hooks the Figure-4 on. Triple H uses the ropes for leverage until Hogan turns the hold around on him and then Triple H grabs the rope to force a break, and he hooks a sleeper on Hogan and grinds down on him as Hogan fights to his feet and escapes the hold with a back suplex. He starts to fire up on Triple H and hits an axehandle as he continues to pound on him and he hits the big boot, and he hits the legdrop on Triple H as Chris Jericho runs down to the ring with a chair and he pulls the ref out of the ring. Hogan goes after Jericho who hits him in the face with a chair and he puts the ref back in the ring only for Triple H to pound on him, and Jericho reverses a whip and Triple H catches him ducking with the facebuster as he clotheslines him over the top to the floor. He pounds on Hogan who starts to hulk up and he pounds on Triple H as he hits the big boot only to miss the legdrop, and Triple H ducks a shot and gets a kick in as he hits the Pedigree only for the Undertaker to run down to the ring. He knocks the ref out and brings the chair into the ring as he hits Triple H in the head with the chair which busts him open, and he puts Hogan on top of Triple H only for Hogan to pound on Taker and clothesline him over the top to the floor before hitting the legdrop on Triple H which gets the three and we have a new champion. The match itself was pretty good as both men worked hard and put on a solid title match. Hogan was getting back into a groove by this point while Triple H was also getting back into his groove and they had good chemistry, and it was a pretty big shock to see Hogan as champion again as well as Triple H’s reign end so quickly. The crowd was into the match and popped for Hogan when he won. Hogan gets the win over Triple H and is the new Undisputed Champion as both men move on. Grade: 3.5

After the match, Hogan celebrates with the title until Triple H gets in his face and he offers a handshake which Hogan accepts, and Hogan continues to celebrate with the title as we go off the air.

Final Analysis: Overall, this PPV ended up being a pretty solid show though it wasn’t as good as I think it had the potential to be. Coming off a pretty big WM and the brand extension coupled with the draft, this looked to set the new era off on a strong note though while it was good, it could’ve been so much more. Hogan is once again the man while Eddie and Tajiri now rule their divisions and Jazz, Billy, and Chuck retain the titles, and Hall, Lesnar, Angle, and Taker get big wins, and in terms of the matches the main event was the best while the rest ranged from good to slightly average with nothing terrible though nothing stood out. 2002 has been an interesting to this point as we were now in a new era with RAW and Smackdown as separate brands, and we will see if the next PPV can be better as both brands really establish their identities. As for this show, it is a pretty solid show that wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either. Final Grade: C+
