Scott's Weekend Wrestling Review 8/6/88

NWA, 8/6/88 (Shortened show due to Braves baseball)
Varsity Club vs. Bob Emory & Brad Holiday
Varsity Club interview (Rotunda was a good heel before IRS)
Sheepherders vs. Brett Holiday & Tony Suber
Sheepherders interview (They're with Rip Morgan, Johnny Ace is gone)
Brad Armstrong vs. Joe Cruz
Kevin Sullivan vs. JC Wilde (Sullivan flips out and throws the guy into the broadcast table)
Kevin Sullivan interview (he's feuding with Jimmy Garvin at the moment)
Lex Luger interview
Curtis Thompson & Mike Jackson vs. Bob Riddle & Tommy Angel (Weird random jobber match)
Ric Flair interview (Flair was a rare breed of heel that actually was polite to the announcers)
Chris Champion vs. Don Valentine (It's obvious there's not a lot of solid live talent in studio)
Jim Cornette & Midnight Express interview
Bobby Eaton vs. Gary Phelps
JJ Dillon interview (Has some fresh scars on his head, prob from a recent house show; Jim Cornette interrupts and they argue. There's kind of a veiled MXE/Four Horsemen feud brewing)
Al Perez vs. Rick Allen
Gary Hart & Al Perez interview (Kevin Sullivan interrupts, lots of heel interactions this episode)
Dusty Rhodes interview (Looks like from World Wide taping)
After the interview, Dick Murdoch & Rhodes beat up some poor jobber (Harkening back to their AWA Texas Outlaws days)
Rip Morgan vs. Bear Collie (Definitely short of talent this week)

WCCW, 8/6/88
Jack Victory vs. Shaun Simpson (Yes Jack Victory has been in about 55 promotions in his career)
Iceman Parsons & Skandor Akbar interview (Parsons just won the Texas Heavyweight Title; at one point earlier in the summer, Kerry & Kevin Von Erich held every title)
Eric Embry & Jimmy Jack Funk vs. Steve Casey & Matt Borne (Borne was very much over as a face whenever he was in the territory)=14pxEric Embry interview=14pxKiller Tim Brooks vs. Steve Cox (Solid back and forth affair; WCCW still has those)
Buddy Roberts & Samoan Swat Team interview (Feels like the Freebirds storyline is pretty much done)
Michael Hayes vs. Samu (SST has been a breath of fresh air)
Michael Hayes interview (As a face, he's almost as over as a Von Erich; he brings Steve Cox into the interview, a young guy he's trying to get over)
Kerry Von Erich vs. Kamala, WCWA Championship (Trying to make Kamala an over heel...AGAIN)

FINAL ANALYSIS: Both shows were light on talent, particularly Crockett with the Braves cutting time. Typical syndie fare, nothing to offensive.
