Eric Bischoff comes down to the ring with a briefcase and says that Brock Lesnar calls himself the Undisputed Champion though since he was persuaded to go to Smackdown, he says the title is very disputed and the fans here and around the world deserve better than that. He says that they deserve their own World Champion exclusive to RAW and Stephanie McMahon can refer to the Undertaker as the Number One Contender if she wants, and he says that the world knows who the real Number One Contender is and he is the man that convinced Taker to jump to Smackdown so he didn’t have to swim with the sharks. He brings out Triple H who comes down to the ring and says that there’s one thing Bischoff forgot to mention which is why Lesnar went to Smackdown which is him, and he says that Lesnar knows he doesn’t belong in the same ring with him and can’t hang with him as Lesnar can’t speak his name. He says that the second he became Number One Contender, Lesnar knew his days as champion were numbered so he took the belt and ran with his tail between his legs, and he says that the Next Big Thing has no balls and Bischoff says they are on the same page as Triple H says what’s on his mind. He says that if he had Triple H on Nitro, we all know who would’ve won the Monday Night Wars and he’s been kicking ass for a long time, and he says that his list of accolades is about to become bigger as he opens the briefcase and pulls out the Big Gold Belt. He says that Triple H should recognize the belt he’s holding as he was the last one to officially wear it, and he says that the greatest champions have worn it and it will again as he officially crowns Triple H the World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H poses with the belt and says that a lot of guys have said that they don’t deserve certain honors though he’s not like others, and he says that everyone knows that no one deserves to be World Champion more than him and no one should be World Champion more than him. He says that Bischoff is a better judge of talent than his ex-wife only for Ric Flair to come down to the ring, and he says that like everyone else, if Lesnar refused to wrestle on RAW, his title is indeed disputed and he thinks the biggest company in the world deserves a World Champion. He says that he’s even inclined to say that Triple H may be the man as he’s worn that belt and has defended it before, and he says that the problem is that while Triple H wore it once, he’s worn it 16 times and no one gifted it to him as he won it by busting his ass in the ring. He says that he bled, sweat, and paid the price of a lifetime so he believes that Triple H needs to earn the right to wear it, and Bischoff says that he agrees with Flair though they don’t need a bogus series and for the first time in history, Triple H will defend the World Title against Flair. Triple H says that he thinks it would be an honor and a privilege as Flair says that he is the luckiest man in the ring to be the first contender, and Bischoff shakes both men’s hands as he tells Triple H to make him proud and that Flair could become a 17-time champion only for Triple H to knock Flair down and he heads to the back.

We see Triple H walking down the hallway as Steven Richards and Johnny Stamboli congratulate him until Bubba Ray Dudley bumps past him and Triple H asks if he has a problem, and Bubba says that he does and Triple H says he sees it in his eyes in that he is jealous of him and he is used to people being jealous of him. He says that unlike Brock Lesnar, Bubba doesn’t have to be jealous as he will give him a chance at some point and starts to walk away only for Bubba to stop him, and he says that Triple H has it wrong as he has the look of hunger in his eyes and it’s that hunger that everyone else has to be the best in the business. He says that he has the hunger to one day be World Champion and that belt that Bischoff gave to Triple H is their salvation, and he says that Triple H should wipe that smug look off his face because one day, someone like him will smack it off and he will be World Champion as he now has to put someone through a table.

The match itself was decent as both teams worked hard and put on a basic match that was almost a semi-squash. Jonathan Coachman interviews the Un-Americans, who say that the notion of an American talking about pride is funny because Americans no nothing about pride, and they say that they were set to burn the American flag last week until Kane ruined everything though they will take pride in ruining Kane tonight as they are not the bad guys by pointing out the flaws in this country. They say that Americans don’t know they are hypocrites as they call out Labor Day and somehow they are the bad guys, and then Test comes up to them with the blowtorch as he says that they will take care of Kane and then finish what they started last week.

Eric Bischoff is with Stacy Keibler and Terri Runnels in his office as he says that they will be part of RAW history, and he says that they will face off in a Lingerie Pillow Fight and the fans will talk about it for years to come as Runnels says she would rather be an interviewer. He says that he takes his job as GM seriously and he should check out their lingerie before the match as they show him their outfits, and he says that if this was all about “assets”, his money would be on Keibler while if it were about the pillows, Runnels would be the winner and he knows this will be a great matchup as Keibler says at least her “pillows” are natural before leaving.

We see Ric Flair getting ready as Chris Jericho walks up to him and says he can’t believe his ears in Eric Bischoff giving Flair the first World Title shot, and he calls Flair a has-been and Flair says that he made Jericho tap out at Summerslam as he doesn’t know what planet Jericho is even from. He says that he’s going to use the wheelchair for now as he goes through therapy and one day, he will walk again and he’s had 8 days to think about the match as he tries to put himself back in the ring and feel the emotions he was feeling. He says that he questioned himself if he could deliver and if the fans would even care to remember him, and he says that he’s watched the match back on tape and the fans thought it was good enough which makes it worth it to him. He says that he wants to thank God for being able to get in the ring again and do what he’s loved for the last 18 years of his life, and he says that he enjoyed doing it for the fans though it wasn’t the match that put him in the chair and it was Triple H and the sledgehammer that put him here. He says that he would think that of all the people in WWE that Triple H would know the kind of guy he is, and he says that Triple H has forgotten that and he wants to tell him that he shouldn’t hunt what he can’t kill. He then picks up a sledgehammer and says that what goes around will eventually come around.

After the match, RVD and Flair celebrate with RVD posing with both belts as we go off the air.

Final Analysis: Overall, this edition of RAW was a pretty memorable episode in what has been a very memorable year. Coming off a red hot Summerslam, things feel very different especially now that we no longer have just one World Title, and with RAW now getting their own World Title it really sets both brands apart with both having their own World champion. Triple H is now the man while Bubba, Stratus, Booker, Kane, Show, Runnels, RVD, and Flair get big wins, and the matches were pretty standard as the big moment of the show was the debut of the World Title and Triple H being awarded the title. 2002 has been a crazy year to this point as things feel so different compared as to when the year started, and as we continue through the year we will see how things play out for both brands. As for this show, it is a pretty memorable show amongst other memorable shows in 2002. Final Grade: B-
